environment The day started like any other, up at 6am and straight to the computer and work. 7am arrives finally, the caf is open. I dress my daughter quickly and head off for my coffee. Today was a bit different to most though, as I pulled up sharply once I got to the front gate. There, a mere two feet from us was a magnificent Australian kookaburra.
I could not believe it let us get so close without flying away. These wild birds are not used to humans. Getting so close to one is so unusual the memory will stick for a long time. I slowly went back into my home, got my wife so she could enjoy this calm presence too. So the four of us stood there for nigh on 5 minutes, enjoying each other’s company with wonder, before our friend finally flew away.
When I finished my coffee, I reflected on the experience. I wondered at my own actions, blundering my way to the gate without even realizing the king of the kingfishers was sitting there watching me. Was I really so busy that morning that I could not see what was right in front of me? Did I really need to get so close that I almost tripped up on the bird before I knew he was there?
If I had taken one more step I am sure the kookaburra would have flown away. My whole family would have missed this wonderful start to the day. It would have been a terrible loss, seeing these types of bird so close is such a rare experience. It turned out to be a bit of a wake-up call to me. I really need to slow down a bit and pay more attention. Why is it we get so caught up in what we are running towards, that we forget to enjoy that which is in front of us?
From my home on Australia’s Gold Coast, my young family of three are blessed with the song (or laughter) of kookaburras quite regularly. Never have I experienced one in such a personal way as I did today. I know from today too that the kookaburra’s song will have a special meaning for me; there will be a message in every verse. “Slow down Damian” it will sing. “Enjoy what is in front of you right now”. A message perhaps we all can benefit from.

Most US states are prone to extreme climates of one variety or another and where air conditioning units sort out the temperature of a house when it gets too hot, it is important to have an efficient boiler system in place to keep your house warm during the colder months. Boiler manufacturers become extremely creative in this field and have developed boilers using environmentally friendly methods so that you can keep your house warm without destroying the atmosphere.
The purpose of most boilers is either to simply heat water or heat the whole house using the steam produced from water that has been heated electrically. Some heating systems use the hot water to warm the air in the house. This is done by the hot water being forced through channels that have been fitted under your floor. As the hot water moves through, it heats the floor, heating the air above it.
The material used to make these boilers, change with the accessories and technology involved in its functioning. Wooden boilers, multi-fuel boilers and pellet boilers are some of the commonly found heating systems that people choose from. Wooden boilers are again divided into two kinds namely the conventional firewood and the bio-heat USA wood.
The other type of boiler is by far the more environmentally friendly option as the amount of energy required to make this type of boiler perform at its best is minimal compared to the conventional wooden boilers. This proves to be the economical choice for many as it feels good to know that the comfort you experience isn’t coming at the expense of the Earth’s atmosphere.
In order to get the right quote for a boiler that you plan to buy for the first time or for that matter just upgrade your existing system, a thorough survey of the available heating systems would be a wise move. Boilers that serve as a fast heating system come in various capacities and technological configurations. It is for you to decide which would suit your house’s heating requirements the best.

environment When it comes to using green cleaning products as a way of helping our environment, there is a wide range of opinion. Many of us think that they are just too expensive to both with, but in truth we are probably wasting our money on the products we currently use.
Our whole home could actually be cleaned perfectly well by using a few simple ingredients. If you know what these ingredients are then it’s easy to make cheap and effective green cleaning products on your own.
What’s Wrong With Traditional Cleaning Products?
There is actually no law forcing manufacturers to label all of the ingredients that go into our cleaning products, which is why it’s very shocking to hear that a number of the ingredients haven’t even been tested for safety on humans!
And, what’s worse, is that we are indirectly taking these products into our system. For example, when we spray our surfaces we breathe the ingredients in. And we also absorb all of the ingredients of our laundry detergents through the clothes we wear every day.
Not only are the health risks shocking enough, but we also need to realise that the ingredients are flushed int our water streams, which harms the environment in many different ways. We don’t need to do this!
Green Alternatives
You don’t have to buy the most expensive products to take steps to go green today. Start by using up the products you do already have, and saving the plastic spray bottles. These can then be used to make your own cleaning concoctions.
There are a number of extremely simple options, such as a wash of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to get rid of mold. Or you could use lemon juice as an antibacterial cleaner. So simple!
You might not have the time to create all of your cleaning products from scratch, and if that’s the case then try buying eco-friendly brands like eCover. While this may cost more, you can save money by buying in bulk. There are also natural laundry options that can last around a thousand washes, ultimately working out a lot cheaper than your current detergent!
Remember - it isn’t necessary to change every single thing right way if you want to go green. You could start with just one area, like your area, then move on when you feel ready. You will still be making a huge difference!
Eco friendly cleaning isn’t as difficult as it might first seem. I’ve found many different simple recipes and natural cleaners to help me on my journey towards going green. Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

An increasingly large amount of peer-reviewed research, published since the IPCC 4th Assessment Report was released in 2007, shows that global warming is happening right now, and that it is quicker than predicted just 2 years ago.
The evidence for this statement is from a multitude of areas. Some of the regions currently undergoing change are shown below.
-Multiple ecosystems, in multiple locations, now show the effects of global warming. Examples include the timing of plant flowering, animal breeding, and lake thawing.
-Warmer ocean surface temperatures in Pacific & Atlantic hurricane-formation zones leading to stronger storms are significantly linked to human-induced warming.
-Ocean acidification is occurring quickly, due to CO2 in massive amounts dissolving in salty water. This will have major impacts on marine ecosystems and subsequently food supplies for many countries.
-Expected sea-level elevation over the next few decades will be greater than that predicted in 2007. It will probably increase a metre or more, according to recently published research.
-Rapid melting of Greenland’s glaciers, which began in 2004, is conclusively due to the greenhouse effect.
-West Antarctica’s Ice Shelf is undergoing accelerated melting during the last decade and has witnessed ten major ice-shelf collapses in that period of time.
-Sea-ice in the Arctic is disappearing much quicker than previously estimated, and it is almost a given that this area will be ice-free in summer within a few decades.
-Thawing of the boreal permafrost is proceeding much faster than previously calculated, and is expelling a lot more greenhouse gases than expected.
The global warming that is now occurring is going to extend for multiple centuries even after all human-released greenhouse gas escape ceases. This is due to the significant inertia that exists in the climate and the delayed decay of carbon dioxide from within the environment.

environment Far fewer people smoke now than did thirty years ago, but that’s not to say it’s completely left in the past.
Cigarettes can be a particularly nasty problem for the businessman or woman because smokers tend to congregate and, if they have nowhere to put their (cigarette) butts, these also congregate - on the ground. You could chase smokers away from your front area with a broom, but this is hardly good for business, and besides you may have other things to do. Far easier on everyone involved is an ashtray.
One ashtray available is a smokers’ post. This is an ashtray with a long, often cylindrical neck whose mouth is too small to accept anything but cigarettes.
These are very visually appealing, and also safe, as a problem with wide-mouthed ashtrays is that they encourage people to put other trash in them, which in turn can run the risk of a fire. Not only do they reduce fuel for a potential fire, they also deny it oxygen with the long neck, so still-flaming cigarette butts are very quickly put out.
The wall-mounted urn is the practical, cheaper choice. It serves the same function as the smokers’ post with none of its style; where the smokers urn stands on its own, the wall-mounted urn lives up to its name by being mounted on the wall. Don’t be fooled by its name, either. It’s just a rectangular box with a hole in it. It’s a great option if you’re going on the cheap, you don’t want to encourage smoking in front of your fine establishment, or both.
Combined ashtrays and trashcans meet all your waste disposal needs. By investing in one of these, you can economise in ways that the other two don’t allow, as there’s no point in investing in a place for people to put their cigarette butts if they’re just going to leave their orange peels and fast food wrappers all over the place. So, if you’re on a budget, this one-stop-drop is the best way to deal with the inevitable, ubiquitous problem of trash. Buy one of these, and all your trash problems will be solved forever.

environment The demolition of buildings has become a practice of experts, however in the early days, it was only the deconstruction part that required an expert, and the full on demolition could be carried out by anybody. Now however, if you are looking to tear down an existing building and start building a new one, then choosing the team to carry out the demolition is one of the key steps.
Ever since the first skyscrapers made their entry about a hundred years ago, it is understandable that there has been a lot of tearing down happening across the world. With time, the demolition crews gained expertise and newer techniques were introduced into the process of demolition. Would you believe it if we told you that the first demolition crews were entirely manual, and they used to regularly bring down buildings of ten floors or more with nothing more than manual tools?
Today however there are some extremely advanced pieces of equipment that have been created purely for tearing down buildings and compared to the early days when it all used to be manual, the time taken for demolition has been cut down by more than half. One of the most popular pieces of equipment for the modern construction crew are the rotational hydraulic shears. These have made several other pieces of machinery obsolete. Other popular pieces of equipment include silenced rock-breakers and flame cutters, but there is a wide range of different pieces of equipment for different types of demolition project.
A bit of trivia here ” the largest building to ever have been demolished was the Singer Building in New York City. This was built in 1908 and torn down in 1968, and it was 47 stories tall!!
Still there are a lot of break-through innovations going on in the field of demolition and in time, the process is only going to get smoother and faster as it edges towards perfection.

Trash can be roughly divided into two groups: cigarettes and everything else. Of course, there are far more specific subdivisions to be made but for our purposes as writers and yours as a business owner we’ll stick to these ones.
So, no matter what your business is, a large trash can is of vital importance - the alternative is a mess of cigarette butts all over the ground, which will hardly inspire new customers to walk in.
If you want to upscale it, get a smokers’ post. While you will need a standard trash can as well, as it is too small to take anything but cigarettes, this gem is a very classy way for smokers to dispose of their refuse. It’s long, elegant, and pleasing to the eye. What’s more, it’s safe, as fire is a very real risk when it comes to ashtrays.
This risk is made negligible by two factors. First, its long neck means that cigarettes that have yet to be stubbed out are denied oxygen. Second, its narrow mouth means that other trash cannot be wedged in, so there’s no risk of a burger wrapper or piece of scrap paper acting as fuel.
Wall-mounted urns are very utilitarian. They’re just discreet boxes with small holes in them that - of course - mount on your wall. They’re not pretty like the smokers’ posts, but they’re cheaper. What’s more, many places don’t want to encourage smoking, but rather tolerate it as unavoidable. If you want to send this message, a wall-mounted urn is for you.
The first two mentioned here are only for cigarettes; if you buy one of these it is necessary to buy a trashcan as well, as if you only buy one you’ll still be stuck with the problem of the refuse meant for the other. To save some money and economise your space, invest in a combined ashtray and trashcan. You’ll keep your accountant happy and keep your front door area uncluttered. Win-win.

The world of commerce has evolved beyond recognition in the last five to ten years due to the advent of the Internet. With the convenience of online buying and cheap delivery services, it is sometimes more cost effective to purchase the supplies you require from a supplier who is based further a field than would have been practical ten years ago.
The companies that have seen the most benefit from the Internet are those who were the quickest to adapt to the Internet when it first came about and move from a traditional bricks operation to a bricks and clicks operation. The Internet has provided us with some household names that as little as seven or eight years ago were completely unheard of such as eBay, Google, Facebook, iTunes, Amazon etc.
In years to come there will be sites that go the same way as sites like Netscape and lose popularity, and this will mainly be down to new, better sites coming along taking their business because they simply do a better job. The Internet is forever moving at high speed and keeping up with it is a full time occupation for those determined to reap the rewards of owning a top spot in the Google search results.
With the modern economy and the cheap courier services available, it doesn’t even matter what size the product is that you want to order, even items such as building materials can be purchased online and for those who know where to look, there are huge savings to be made.
Online stores will offer the same returns policy and warranties as traditional high street stores, as well as savings on top of that. The possibility of receiving broken or faulty goods from an online purchase is usually outweighed by the saving you make at the time of purchase.

Those days are gone however as due to the advent of the internet and the prevalence of reliable cheap couriers, you can now purchase any supplies that you require from anywhere you choose.
The companies that were quickest to move from a Bricks operation to a Bricks and Clicks operation have been the ones to see the biggest benefit to date. It is easy to feel that many others have been left behind, but the Internet has changed the face of enterprise across the world. There are some household names that as little as 5 or 10 years ago didnt register in our collective consciousness. Companies such as Amazon, Google, Twitter, Facebook, Itunes, ebay etc

In another five years, there will be famous names that will go the way of sites like Netscape, and lose popularity. Already there are some sites that are falling out of favour in a huge way, often due to a better site coming along to take over. The potential additional problems that might be caused by faulty or broken goods is out weighed by the savings made at the time of purchase. The Internet has helped to keep inflation in check as the competition at the top of keyword searches is very high. Many companies opt to use price as their USP.
