My Solar Power Setup - Part 3 COMBINER BOX
Posted under solar panel power by soloarpowerhomeadminHere is how to make a combiner box that will let you combine your panel wires without soldering or using wire nuts.

Epoxy would definitely be stronger. Super glue is very quick setting and is easy to use, that is why I used it here. Since there are really no stresses on the ground bar, super glue works fine. I have made and am using a few of these boxes and have not had the gound bar come loose yet.
Great box, although I personally dont trust the super glue… 2 part exopy would be stronger.
Thanx for this vid, I did this for my system. I will have an update form my north central FL system soon. I just got 2 130watt panels yesterday.
Awesome videos, cant wait to see your new setup. I subscribed, so post a video soon!
Thanks man, I am using a couple of these boxes right now and they work like a champ.
Skippy, you rule. great instructions.
Yes, a couple of things have changed. I will be doing a new video soon as I have changed panels and a couple of other things. Keep adding batteries!
Hi Skippy, Anything new? Since I last wrote I went from 1 to 4 batteries, added a 120w Kryocera panel, and a Morningstar lighting controller/battery charger (which brings on my 12v porch light and charges batteries). Maybe I should do a video. Ed
Thanks. I am using a few of these and they work great for combining multiple wires in to just two coming out.
THAT IS A GREAT IDEA!!!
I will use this idea on one of my projects.
Thanks for posting it…Rick.
I’m going to make one of those for my harbor freight 45watt panel setup!
Thanks for sharing that!
Might not be a good idea since solar and wind system operate at different levels.
hi, i was wandering if i could connect a solar panel and a wind turbine together with this device? thx in advance
Works pretty good, right? The cool thing is that you can use different length ground bar depending on how many panels you have. You could even parallel multiple boxes together if you want. The super glue holds really well also.
Thanks for posting this, I just built one after watching this last night. I was wondering how to tie six harbor freight 15 watts panels together cleanly, this was just the ticket. I used a shorter ground bar that I could wedge into each side of the box, with the super glue for additional holding power.
Initially, I had my panels connected with wire nuts also, but I was losing some voltage that way. This is a very easy to make box, and I am not losing any voltage. Try it, it’s easy to make.
I might try this. Right now I have my four solar panels are connected together with wire nuts but this would make things neater. Thanks
Thanks. No, I was using the one that I have installed outdoors for a while with no ill effects. You can buy a top for this box that comes with weather stripping. Then you can seal the ends up and make it totally weather proof. I am not losing any voltage or amperage from the ground bar either.
Not bad. Simple and effective. Is this meant to only be indoors? As in how would you weather proof this if it were installed outside?
