What Brings Tourists To Costa Rica
Posted under environment by Leslie J. RiannenCosta Rica has been known for years for having the best natural park system in Central America. You can expect to see an abundance of birds in their natural environment. How about volcano’s or wildlife, put those on your list of things to see on your Costa Rica vacation.
Two of the best and most accessible volcanoes are Irazu and Poas. There are roads leading to both of the volcanoes so you can get a birds eye view from above. You will be amazed that you are standing just feet away from the mouth of these incredible active craters.
Arenal is still the most active volcano in the world. It sat dormant for hundreds of years the erupted in July 1968. To this day, it still bellows ash columns, sending red glowing lava over its edges.
Have you ever thought about hiking through some of the densest forest in Central America? Corcovado National Park is known as the wildest rainforest in Costa Rica. Home to over 500 species of trees it’s sure to keep your attention and they also have camping facilities for those who can’t pull themselves away.
For those avid birders, Cano Negro is a not so famous place for bird watching. Birds are just one of the main attractions. It has been reported that this sparsely populated location is home to Jaguars, Pumas and Tapirs.
Costa Rica is home to six of the eight species of marine turtles that are reported worldwide. Of the six who make Costa Rica their home, four of those species do their nesting in Tortuguero. The Green sea turtle calls Tortuguero it’s breeding home, which brings many researchers and tourists to this magical place.
Tortuguero national park is also home to about one half of the wildlife like birds, monkeys, sloths, and reptiles than you see in other parts of Central America. The national park of Tortuguero is in danger of loosing some of its protected areas to roads and that would be extremely harmful to the wildlife in this area.
Let’s not forget the amazing water activities available in Costa Rica. White water rafting, snorkeling, fishing and surfing are some of the tops on the list. Manuel Antonio is touted as the most beautiful beach; windsurfing at Lake Arenal is ranked #3 best location in the world or Tarpon fishing catch and release in Barra del Colorado.
Costa Rica attracts travelers from all over the world for it’s natural beauties yet Monteverde seems to be the most desired location when it comes to experiencing the canopy tours. You can fly high above the forest floors harnessed to a cable and zip line from tree to tree as one option. The other is to enjoy a slow leisurely walk along many of the amazing suspension bridges that makes Monteverde one of the most popular destinations in Costa Rica.
