Why aren’t we all driving on sunlight? Learn more at deathstroke.net

  1. shannden Said,

    Dear packjim,
It can be done. Less if you don’t mind a little grease on your knuckles. Go for it!
    Richard

  2. packjim56 Said,

Hmmm. Food for though. I walk and ride the local bus (powered by natural gas) to work. Nevertheless, after seeing your video, I am tempted to buy some old clunker on the verge of going to the scrap heap and convert it. I assume that could be accomplished for less than $5,000, or is that unrealistic of me?

  3. prankmypants Said,

you should check out nanosolar’s new solar panels. they are 20x more efficient and are uber cheap. plus you can even spray them on. google it

  4. DeviousZen Said,

Definitely something to think over. Cool project and an even cooler idea, bet it gets a lot of looks on the street :D
Also, I know I’m poor when I see this video and think that not only would I like a car like that…I want a house like that even more :(

  5. 12al34 Said,

    I want!

  6. Ryanbroon97 Said,

    it is economical

  7. cag66 Said,

No i don’t think you need direct sunlight, though less sun makes solar panels less worthwhile. You would need charging stations on the road which is what israel is planning to do

  8. knockoutmaniac Said,

because i cant drive to another part of the country on electricity or sunlight.

  9. Climatecampwa09 Said,

he drove away before i could answer! noooooooooooooooooooooooo

  10. protogenius Said,

Olympia is the last place I would put solar panels, you hardly see the sun for 9 months out of the year.

  11. garagecrap Said,

Nice bug, kind of short. And to your question…..it’s still way to expensive and and uneconomical

  12. xaedmon Said,

Hey that is really neat. i would LOVE an electric car. And i agree, such vehicles should be far more common. The technology IS here. It’s just being suppressed because it is profitable to do so. There was a video on Youtube that showcased an electric Jeep prototype. Man that thing was/is awesome, it uses an onboard generator to recharge the batteries on the fly giving it a 400 mile range. I doubt that vehicle will ever hit the market, even though it would be a huge success.

  13. prayb4udie Said,

wow that car move and love the horn lol

  14. TheReasonWhyGuy Said,

The answers to your questions are simple… profit as a motivator prevents this… since it would, by definition, decrease profit for the companies.

  15. WaltGe Said,

I understand using electric cars and don’t want to be a naysayer, not to mention illiterate. However, from my limited understanding is that solar panels only work in bright sunshine.
Where I live, 60% of the days are overcast and we can go for several weeks without sunshine. Plus, I live in an apartment. How would a charging an electric car work without stringing wire from my apartment to the parking lot?

  16. stsoldier308 Said,

nice very nice……..if i had the money i would buy an electric kit and have the first DIY electric car in colombia

  17. dratorent Said,

    i love ure carr

  18. theDynastyM3 Said,

Where can I find more info about building/getting electric cars and solar panels for houses?

  19. lukeo25 Said,

very cool car I want one. The issues that arise with solar are inconsistency and storage. But a solar thermal ie: solar Stirling generator and a solar collector along with a wind turbine, would suit the purpose of home energy needs easily.

  20. shannden Said,

    translation?

  21. TheComputerInformer Said,

    WEETYHY

  22. picmario Said,

The dieselelectric and petrolelectric cars are coming. Why? In EU it is *mandated* to manufacture cars up to a certain fuel consumption standard, or get lost.

It was as easy as that. A law.

  23. shannden Said,

    Dear GR8T
I’, afraid I can’t join you on your last comment. I don’t think it is an issue of literacy or intelligence. The supporters and detractors share the entire spectrum of both on this issue.
    Richard

  24. GR8TDUCK Said,

One more little thing… I have also been surprised by the lack of literacy of some of the naysayers. They certainly have strong opinions about technical things for 8 year olds…

  25. GR8TDUCK Said,

Hi, That doesn’t sound nutty. Business protects its interests. Big business has more on the line to protect and more resources with which to protect them. If it is good for business to say the world is flat they will figure out how to make the best possible argument for that POV. I know a lot on this subject because I am fascinated by the idea of having an electric car, passing by the gas station. Oil is up to $80/barrel today and I think it will go back up again. My next car WILL be electric!
