Championing For Alternative Energy Is Still Alive And Well

Posted under solar power by Adriana Noton

Environmental issues have been broadcast throughout the world enough for most of us to understand the need for alternative energy. Everything from the way we provide electricity to our homes and businesses to the way we power our cars has to change. Yet it has also been noticed that progress on this topic tends to creep ever so slowly toward a conclusion. While other countries have been able to prove the effectiveness of clean energy, we are all still wondering what is going to happen and when.

Because there are businesses, politicians, and organizations linked to the final outcome of alternative energy debates, it seems like there is always at the very least a modicum of resistance. Beyond that, one has to wonder if a particular politician drags their heels thanks to significant investments in the oil companies. Tragically, there are still unanswered questions, or questions that have not been answered in absolute certainty, and therefore we see almost no great leaps of progress. One of the biggest questions is how can alternative power provide great enough resources to the public?

It has also been noted that there are some variations from one geographical area to the next that will ultimately affect seasonal output. Oceanfront towns and cities tend to have heavy winds that pound the coastline from fall through spring. Yet during the three hottest months there is very little wind especially when compared to the amount of sunlight.

Jumping too soon into alternative energy is considered political suicide by many of today’s leaders. Had this issue never become politicized the changes are much greater that progress would have grown in leaps and bounds. The politician that endorses a clean energy project and then pushes for the funding of the project knows that they better be certain of its success. Spending large sums of taxpayer money on a mistake can not make one politically popular.

Even if you had a politician willing to stake his or her career on the development of clean energy and the application of alternative energy it would be very hard for that politician in today’s position to find a colleague to support their position.

Some suggest giving the power to the people, literally. If each household became eligible for a significant tax credit for taking themselves off the power grid then eventually the government could start to mandate that consumers become responsible for making their own electricity through alternative energy resources. The biggest flaw with this issue is that it leaves the renters of the world without much power to stay safe and get clean.

With these potential issues, science and technology are still fighting hard to create the most effective and efficient alternative energy sources. The more we uncover through technology and science the more we can determine whether or not we can sustain power throughout the year and without major system flaws.

The new and improved floating wind turbine is a perfect example of the progress and the direction we are heading. This wind turbine is now aptly making itself useful by connecting to the power grid. It is hoped that by studying these improvements we can all look forward to life saving alternative energy that can produce the necessary power for humanity.
