Solar Air Conditioning

Posted under solar power for homes by soloarpowerhomeadmin

This video starts with a visual montage of the sheer number of air conditioners used on our street in Cairo, Egypt, describing them as energy parasites that actually increase the heat of the surrounding air. It then shows the vacuum tube heat pipe solar absorption cooling air conditioning system installed by solar engineer Les Hamasaki at the Debs Park Audubon Environmental Center in Los Angeles. Les Hamasaki describes the 10-ton solar chiller and we conclude with a note about how solar …

  1. dapfury Said,

Ill give credit where credit is do, its a good practical system. Sell it on its merits, not guilt. Or you will have to wait for Al Gore to fly his 200gal an hour of jet fuel G3 to DC to force laws on people in the land of the free.

  2. dapfury Said,

While you can make self political claims about what you think is happening to the environment (I can find 10 scientist to everyone you produce against your theories), just talk about your very expensive product that YOU want money for instead of giving it to those greedy big companies that give thousands of families jobs.

  3. CuriousEarthMan Said,

Thank you for posting this video, but SO MUCH talking, so LITTLE information conveyed. And you might want to lose the annoying bass beat in the beginning. While I’d like to find out more about this technology, I’ll have to actually STUDY your video for clues as to where to find out more. All in all, while something promising seems to be here, your piece seemed a lot like a ‘look how smart I am and how dramatic I can make this sound’ self horn blowing. But again, thanks for posting it.

  4. sarcoed Said,

We use steam as the prime mover for absorbtion chilling at work. Interesting concept to have it on such a smaller scale for residental use. Is there a video that brakes down the basic construction of the system?

  5. MisterBaz1 Said,

So how does it actually chill the water? Is it some sort of fancy sterling engine?
High pressure -> low pressure system that cools the water?

  6. NeoAltPower Said,

My city, Las Vegas NV, should hear this. When he’s talking about greedy corporations, thats my city!!!!

  7. tehtennis Said,

its a good idea but the efficiency for photovoltaic panels are not as good as they can be yet. so i don’t think there will be many in the field for a while.

  8. bluebyler Said,

for gods sake shut up and get to the construction.

  9. cdltpx Said,

Hey I get it I drove around in a truck wondering why when trains could deliver for so much less fuel. Sure we need some things to go water to water in a truck but not as much as we have been using. Some things can wait to get to the other side they will still be sneakers when they get to the east coast a week later than before. Berries will be slop in 3 days you better haul ass to market. And I made my money driving but hey I am not the hammer I am the nail I go where you drive me.

  10. cdltpx Said,

Don’t forget about the miles of wire used to send the electricity down the line. The mining that had to be accomplished to retrieve the ore to build the infrastructure. They don’t want a ststem that is on it’s own that would be too much like freedom lord knows this country doesn’t believe in that stuff Started with slavery and by golly it still had slavery today just traded the whips of leather for whips of feathers from ship your ass to we will take away your cool IE feathers.

  11. tculhane Said,

Still think I’m insulting everyone’s intelligence?

  12. tculhane Said,

Corporations that operate with “enlightened self-interest” win the evolutionary race and persist while myopic greedy corporations self-destruct (hurting a lot of others in the process). The Game Theory calculations of Nash et al. show that the evolutionarily stable strategy is for self-interest to create robust long-term adaptations to changing environments. I believe in “K-selection” capitalism, not “r-selection” capitalism. See “Bionomics: Economy as Ecosystem”by Michael Rothschild

  13. tculhane Said,

When I used the term “greedy corporations” I was not attacking “corporations” or “self-interested corporations”; I believe in Adam Smith’s concept of the Invisible Hand in “the Wealth of Nations” and am an individualist. But I’ve also read some of Adam Smith’s companion volume “The Theory of Moral Sentiments” and this “father of our modern economic system” warned against unfettered greed. Greed is short sighted self interest that in the long run is destructive to corporations.

  14. tculhane Said,

If the socialist-oriented planners and protectionist lobbyists got out of the way and let the free market truly operate I believe true capitalists would quickly abandon nuclear and coal, particularly if negative externalities were fully priced. I am a fan of F.A. Hayek, Mancur Olson and Milton Friedman. How you could construe that I spew “bogus anti-capitalistic jargon” is beyond me. We need to talk…

  15. tculhane Said,

I love Green Technology too. And I am an avowed Capitalist. I didn’t put any anti-capitalistic jargon in this video. I rail against inefficiencies and the greed of dinosaur corporations who insist on using our subsidies for outmoded nuclear and coal plants. You have obviously inserted your own agenda into interpreting my words. If you listen again you will see there is nothing against free enterprise in this — I believe solar AC to be a superior technology.

  16. altops Said,

i love “Green technology” I hate the “Greedy” bogus anti capitalistic jargon this video spews out that insult everyones intelligence. Without Capitalism there is no new “green” technology!

  17. Shimonetadaisuki Said,

Nice cooling system, when will it be available to the public? 2050?

  18. JordanMaster22 Said,

air conditioners work the same as anything, they separate the heat from the cold. even with evaporative cooling, the water vapor will not stay cool for long, it will eventually gather heat, then the surrounding air will feel 20 degrees hotter

  19. 777strongcoffee Said,

I agree with a previous comment.. Nice job of playing the retarded environmental wacked-out sermon at the beginning of your video. Next time, try focusing on your product, rather than preach at everyone.

  20. bloggycreek Said,

    Awesome video.

  21. heftycat Said,

I completely freakin agree with you!! The tech will speak for itself, so one shouldn’t be an a-hole about it, and don’t deliever half truths either… Refrigerants like freon w/ CFCs are now replaced, by law, w/ alternative non CFC refrigerants here in the US… Plus It looks like there’s alot of different types of metals in those apparatuses, last time I checked, that requires smelting and shaping, demanding tremendous amounts of heat and energy. Then multiply that by the consumer population.

  22. johnross1968 Said,

When I saw the title of the video I was excited but after watching a few moments of the video i was completely turned off. In the future just pitch your products and stop with the smear tactics. I noticed you didn’t mention that people who use normal AC units are 9698 times more likely to abuse children and small animals.

  23. FlyOfcourse Said,

    Thanks for Uploading :D

  24. VillageIdiot8055 Said,

its all about control the more they convince us we need to give it up the more we give up….and the more they want

  25. NSResponder Said,

    Touchy, aren’t you?

Sorry if you don’t like it when someone calls you on your preachy bullshit. Try to work it out in therapy.
