Help Sustain the Environment with Flavia

Mars is well-known for its commitment to environmental sustainability through its Thirsty for Change programme, and Flavia is very much a part of that, through developing drinks machines and drinks that adhere to the programme’s principles.
In particular, the Flavia Creation 400 machine has been developed to be as energy efficient as possible. One of the ways this works is that the machine heats just enough water to serve a few drinks at a time, so as not to waste electricity on heating a full tank every time someone wants a drink.
As well as this, the water that is used by the machine is heated to exactly the right temperature, rather than being boiled as in other manufacturers’ machines. This has led to Flavia being one of the most energy efficient drinks makers in the marketplace, according to independent tests.
Of course, these features don’t just help the environment. Avoiding unnecessary boiling of water, and only heating a small amount of water each time, helps to save you money through not having to use as much electricity. So Flavia helps you save the environment and save money at the same time.
But that’s not where it ends. As well as saving energy, Flavia is committed to reducing waste. The main areas that have been identified to target here are in packaging, the drinks themselves, and the actual machine. To this end, they’ve incorporated these aims in our original designs, and also developed new collection and recycling services for our customers.
This overall approach to sustainability can be expressed in the slogan Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, which has been adopted by the environmental movement. Bearing these ideas in mind, the Flavia machines, drinks sachets and drinks cartons have all been produced using reusable materials where possible, and to be recyclable.
A further strand in Flavia’s decision to help sustain the environment, is to ensure the ingredients for their drinks are only sourced from sustainable businesses, that operate responsibly wherever they are in the world. This includes working closely with organisations such as Fairtrade and the Rainforest Alliance.
So Flavia’s committment to the environment - backed by parent company Mars’s programmes and dedication in the same area - is based on ensuring their drinks machines and drinks are as environmentally-friendly as possible. Whilst at the same time they’re committed to helping their suppliers achieve the same goals.
